Sherrone Moore was hired to replace Jim Harbaugh as the next college football coach at Michigan on January 26, 2024. The latter is not ready to comment on the horrible incident that involves the former.
He has yet to fully process all of the things that have transpired over the last two days. Understandably so.
It is interesting to note that Harbaugh was apparently unaware of the scandal that shocked college football for an extended period of time on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. An equipment staffer had to inform him of what happened after practice ended on the day after Moore was fired and arrested. How?!
Sherrone Moore had an affair at Michigan.
Sherrone Moore got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant at Louisville in 2009. The former University of Oklahoma offensive lineman was later elevated to the tight ends coach in 2012. He took the same job at Central Michigan in 2014. Harbaugh hired him to his staff in Ann Arbor in 2018.
Moore started as the tight ends coach in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Harbaugh moved him to the offensive line and promoted him to co-offensive coordinator in 2021. Michigan won a national title in 2023.
Jim Harbaugh rode off into the sunset and took the head coaching job with the Chargers at that point. The Wolverines named Moore as its 21st head coach in program history upon his departure.
They coached six seasons together.
Moore, who is married with three children, allegedly got involved with a woman on the football staff at Michigan while working under Harbaugh. Their affair reportedly started more than two years ago.
There is no reason to believe Harbaugh had any knowledge of the scandalous behavior. However, it sounds like it was happening behind his back. Imagine his shock when he found out.
Jim Harbaugh is not ready to comment.
Los Angeles will play a road game at Kansas City this weekend. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. PT.
As a result, the Chargers have started practicing earlier this week to prepare for Sunday after the team consulted with sleep experts at UCLA.
The news of Moore’s ouster at Michigan broke around 2:00 p.m. PT on Wednesday afternoon. He was detained by police in Saline, Mich. just a few hours later after he threatened to take his own life with a knife in front of his mistress. Prosecutors formally charged Moore with felony third-degree home invasion and two misdemeanors, stalking in a domestic relationship and breaking and entering, on Friday. The 39-year-old was released from jail after meeting the $25,000 bond.
Jim Harbaugh did not learn of the incident in Ann Arbor until after practice on Thursday morning— more than 12 hours after Moore was fired. He is still processing what happened.

I am shocked that it took until Thursday morning for Harbaugh to learn about what happened on Wednesday afternoon. He is the ultimate football guy and the Chargers have the Chiefs on the horizon so it does not surprise me that his focus was singular. But still…
