Jimmy Butler is done with the Miami Heat. During the offseason, Miami Heat GM Pat Riley refused to give Butler a $113 million extension.
Butler’s beef with Riley had been brewing before the end of last season when Riley fired a shot at the Heat star for saying the Heat would have won their series against the Boston Celtics if he had played.
“If you’re not on the court playing, you should keep your mouth shut’ said Pat Riley.
On Thursday night, Butler spoke with the media and said he wanted out of Miami because he “wanted to get his joy back.”
“I want to see me getting my joy back playing basketball. Wherever that may be, we’ll find out here pretty soon. I’m happy here off the court, but I want to be back to somewhat dominant, I want to hoop and I want to help this team win, and right now I’m not doing it.”
According to ESPN insider Shams Charania, Butler will not return to the Heat even if they offer him a $100 million extension because of his beef with Riley.
“From my understanding even if the Heat were to offer him an extension right now, that’s not something he wants to do. Not something he would do”
