Joe Burrow wants to bring back one of the most infamous touchdown celebrations in modern NFL history.

According to the Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl quarterback, if he scores a rushing touchdown this year, he’ll do the fake-moon-the-crowd celebration that Randy Moss did as a member of the Minnesota Vikings in a playoff game against the Green Bay Packers.

“Randy Moss — fake moon the crowd,” Burrow said while appearing on the Pardon My Take Podcast. “If I get a rushing touchdown this year, I might bring back the fake moon. It’s got to be on the road, though.”

After one of the co-hosts suggested that he do it against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Burrow simply replied, “Okay.”

As Burrow and the Pardon My Take hosts note in their comments, the fake moon celebration lives in increased infamy due to Joe Buck’s overzealous pearl-clutching commentary, as he said it was a “disgusting act” by Moss.

In the 31-17 win over Brett Favre (who tossed four interceptions) and the Packers, Moss had four catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns.

Burrow is heading into the fifth season in the NFL after being drafted with the #1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

When healthy, Burrow has led the Bengals to two playoff appearances, one AFC title, and a 22-10 record in two seasons. In his two injury-marred seasons, however — one of which was last year — Burrow and Cincy have a record of 7-12-1.

Knocked out of the 2023 season in Week 11, Burrow will be making his return to an NFL field when the Bengals host the New England Patriots for a Week 1 matchup on September 8.
