It was unclear what the future held for John Daly after the Hooters that had served as his home during The Masters for close to three decades closed its doors before being demolished last year. However, he didn’t waste any time finding a new spot to set up shop during the tournament.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of golf fans make the pilgrimage to Augusta National for The Masters. That hallowed major is referred to as A Tradition Unlike Any Other, and while it might be a stretch to say John Daly gave it a run for its money with his own yearly ritual, he managed to attract many of those patrons to the Hooters down the street from where the tournament is held.

Many golfers rent out houses near Augusta National during The Masters, but Daly opted to plop an RV in the parking lot of the restaurant in 1997 while kicking off a tradition of his own. He hasn’t competed in the major since 2006, but he’s still managed to make more money than most of the golfers who’ve taken part with the help of the fans who’ve flocked to meet him and buy the merchandise that generated close to $800,000 in sales in 2024.

Things took an unfortunate turn last year when the Hooters in Augusta shut down after falling victim to the chain’s bankruptcy proceedings, and the building is now nowhere to be found after being knocked to the ground in November. However, Daly has managed to find another venue to call home this April.

The road where the Hooters was located boasts plenty of other restaurants that are within walking distance of Augusta National, and it seemed safe to assume Daly wasn’t going to let the closure impact what has become a very lucrative venture for him.

According to WRDW, he won’t have to travel very far from his former location of choice when The Masters rolls around this year. Top Dawg Tavern, which is located right across the street from where the Hooters was, told the outlet it will be welcoming Daly in April to keep the tradition alive.

It seems like a pretty on-brand choice, as the restaurant that claims to have “Augusta’s best wings, burgers, and salads” has a menu filled with the same kind of bar food you can treat yourself to at Hooters.
