Former Ravens head coach John Harbaugh will be one of the highest paid head coaches in the league just weeks after getting fired.
Last week, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti announced that the team was parting ways with Harbaugh.
“Following a comprehensive evaluation of the season and the overall direction of our organization, I decided to make a change at head coach. Today I informed John that he has been relieved of his duties. This was an incredibly difficult decision, given the tremendous 18 years we have spent together and the profound respect I have for John as a coach and, most importantly, as a great man of integrity.”
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Harbaugh had lost the locker room, and several Ravens players questioned if they wanted to play for their longtime coach.
“Harbaugh lost the locker room. At the end, players had doubts about whether or not they wanted to play for him… It wasn’t just Lamar Jackson, but it started with Harbaugh and Lamar Jackson not being on the same page and it continued throughout the locker room.”
Despite all the drama in Baltimore, Harbaugh found a landing spot with the NY Giants.
According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, Harbaugh will be getting paid nearly $100 million over 5 years in his new contract with the Giants.
