The New York Giants’ decision to be featured in HBO’s new series Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants has certainly proven to be an interesting one as the most viral moments have come from behind-the-scenes footage of the team trying and failing to convince Saquon Barkley to sign a new contract.

Last week, we brought you the story of GM Joe Schoen’s conversation with Barkley, which saw him on the verge of begging the Pro Bowl running back to keep the Giants in his considerations, only for Barkley to awkwardly reply that he’s already told them where he wants to be: Philadelphia.

On this week’s episode Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants, footage revealed Giants owner John Mara saying he would have a “tough time sleeping” if Barkley — who he makes clear is the team’s most popular player — landed in Philly.

Barkley, of course, would ultimately do exactly that, as he signed a three-year, $37.75 million deal with the Birds on March 11.

This summer, the original, training camp-set version of Hard Knocks will feature the Chicago Bears, who drafted USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the number one overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The first episode in the five-part series, which has been on HBO since 2001 (except for a few years in the early 2000s) will premiere on Tuesday, August 6.

This year’s “In-Season” edition of Hard Knocks, a spin-off that debuted just a few years go, is set to feature all four AFC North teams: the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens.
