UFC legend Jon Jones got involved in a heated road rage incident over the weekend in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Naturally, the incident was caught on video. Sunday afternoon, he issued a statement addressing what happened that led to the altercation.
After what appears to be a near-collision, the video shows Jon Jones exiting his car and confronting another motorist. Bryan Beltran, the other driver, claims in the video that the mixed martial artist almost hit him “three times.”
“You’re almost f—— hitting me bro,” Beltran said to Jones in the video.
“You gotta calm down, bro. You gotta relax yourself, bro,” Jones replies to Beltran, then flips him off.
Beltran posted a video explaining what he claims happened
“I revved my car at him the first time it almost happened he still almost hit me twice after that so I flipped him off then he proceeded to stop in the middle of the road back up and come into the same parking lot,” Beltran wrote on Instagram.
“The night before another guy in a truck pulled out in front [of] me so this was pretty annoying considering it was the second time a guy in a truck cant drive… i guess those are ABQ drivers for you stay safe.”
“Btw i know its John [sic] Jones i didn’t know who it was when i flipped him off but definitely realized who it was quick!” he continued. “No hate or hard feelings towards my guy John but i think he might need to take some driving classes cause he almost him [sic] multiple times. Hopefully soon i make another video where we can maybe shake hands and ‘squash the beef’ lol.”
Beltran also addressed people commenting on his post
“I know he was a world champion, and no, I don’t think I could beat him in a fight lol,” he wrote. “But like I said, he should still be more careful. Being famous or trained doesn’t matter when it comes to someone pulling a trigger. Anything can happen. And like I said, I don’t carry and didn’t try anything, so I’m not someone to worry about.”
Jon Jones addressed the road rage incident
In a post on X, Jon Jones shared his side of the story. In it, he said he was “proud” of how he handled the situation.
“This kid proceeded to chase my car down for two blocks, revving his engine and trying to intimidate me,” Jones wrote. “I am glad this happened to me and not one of the senior citizens in our community. I am proud of myself for standing up for myself and not allowing that kind of bullying or intimidation.”
