Jon Rahm was overcome with emotions after winning his first event on the LIV Golf tour. Cameras caught the 29-year-old Spaniard sobbing his eyes out as soon as the victory was official.

It has been a rough go for the former World No. 1 over the last (more than a) few months and he finally got off the Schneid.

Not only was it Rahm’s first win with LIV, it was his first win since The Masters in 2023— more than 475 days ago. Tyrrell Hatton and Joaquin Niemann both had a chance to force a playoff with a par on No. 18. They both missed.

Rahm burst into tears as soon as Hatton’s putt rimmed out to give him the win.

To make the entire sequence of events even more entertaining, Rahm won the UK event just one day after he flipped out on the fans for being too loud. LIV’s whole thing is “golf, but louder” so it was a rather ironic and very funny exchange. And then he turned right around with the victory.

What a weekend!

This is the first time that we have seen a golfer cry over an LIV event win since the alternate league came to exist two years ago. The visual was certainly something.

However, it is a bigger deal for Jon Rahm than it might seem.

He finished 45th at The Masters in April, missed the cut at the PGA Championship, withdrew from the U.S. Open and tied for seventh at the British Open. His recent struggles have been frustrating, and his experience with LIV Golf has not been a lot of fun thus far.

Rahm went on an expletive-laced rant about drones in his backswing last month. The fans were on the wrong end of his tirade on Saturday. It is always something. He’s always upset.

But not on Sunday!
