One man’s self-sabotage is another man’s perseverance, apparently. According to reports, disgraced actor Jonathan Majors is being given an award for that very virtue.
Despite being convicted of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment in December 2023, the Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards, entering its fourth year, has announced that they’re giving Majors the Perseverance Award at an event in Los Angeles on Friday, June 21.
The Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards, founded by Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star and podcast Jason Lee, is giving the award to Majors for showing “that no matter what adversity they face, they will continue to aspire to inspire,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
At the beginning of 2022, Majors was on the verge of becoming one of the biggest stars in Hollywood as he was set to make his debut as Kang the Conqueror, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next “big bad,” in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
While the film had a middling performance, both in terms of reviews and its box office returns, Majors was considered one of the highlights and followed it up by playing the primary antagonist in Creed III.
Just a few weeks after the release of Creed III, however, Majors’ career began to unravel after he was accused of assaulting his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. Additional ex-girlfriends of Majors have also accused him of domestic abuse.
In late March 2023, Majors was arrested on Majors was later arrested on assault, strangulation, and harassment charges and was found guilty of one count of reckless assault in the 3rd degree and a charge of harassment as a violation on December 18.
Since the conviction, Majors has been dropped from his role in the MCU and had his bodybuilding drama Magazine Dreams shelved. He’s also not currently attached to appear in any upcoming projects.
Although Majors’ professional life has gone off the rails, his personal life seems to be doing just fine as he began dating actress Meagan Good in 2023.
