Last Friday night, Jordan Love hurt his knee on one of the final plays of the Green Bay Packers’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, 34-29, in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Thankfully, total disaster has been averted as the injury was not season-ending as so many knee injuries are.

But, the injury is expected him to miss a chunk of time, with initial reports suggesting an absence for his MCL sprain of 3-6 weeks. So, with that news, why is Jordan Love listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field?

Here’s the injury.

The Packers have officially listed Love as questionable for Sunday’s game. And, head coach Matt Lafleur has played lip service to Love possibly playing. LaFleur has stated that if they think that Love can move enough to protect himself that he will play, and that he’s more day-to-day than week-to-week.

I’ve been wrong before, and I’ll be wrong again. But, there is no chance that Jordan Love plays this weekend for the Green Bay Packers. First, the injury is relatively serious. MCL sprains are nothing to mess around with, and they need rest to improve.

Jordan Love hasn’t practiced all week, either, and he didn’t even come out to stretch with the team on Friday. There’s just no way they’re going to put a guy out there in a Week 2 game that hasn’t practiced all week, is their franchise quarterback, and has a long and bright future ahead of them that hasn’t practiced all week.

NFL injury reports are supposed to be accurate, for a variety of reasons. If the Packers think there’s a small chance that Jordan Love plays, but that he probably won’t, there is another designation on the injury report: doubtful. Jordan Love being listed as questionable is a ridiculous use of the injury report.
