Thousands of college football players hit the transfer portal after the regular season ended, and there aren’t many names that have managed to attract more attention than Jordan Seaton. On Monday, the offensive tackle announced he was planning to leave Colorado in a post that featured a video hyping up his talents, which reportedly came courtesy of an athletic department that was under the impression he was staying in Boulder.
More than 4,500 football players entered the transfer portal when it opened for business at midnight on January 2nd, which means roughly one-third of the guys playing at the Division I level immediately decided to explore their options in the postseason.
Others waited a while to announce they were courting potential suitors before the transfer window closes on the 16th. That includes Jordan Seaton, the former five-star offensive tackle who Deion Sanders lured to Colorado before he made his debut as a true freshman in 2024.
On Monday, Seaton revealed his intention to transfer after wrapping up his second season with the Buffaloes, and that news apparently came as a big surprise to a program that went out of its way to whip up the highlight reel that accompanied the announcement.

Seaton lived up to the hype that was surrounding him when he arrived in Boulder. He only surrendered three sacks on the 612 snaps he played while earning Freshman All-American Honors in 2024, and he was responsible for just two more in the 561 he took in the nine games he played before his season was cut short by a foot injury.
It seemed like the 6’5″, 330-pound behemoth would be returning for a third season with Colorado before all but assuredly declaring for the NFL Draft (he’s well on track to becoming a first-round pick), but on Monday, he revealed that won’t be the case after entering the transfer portal just four days before it’s set to close.
That relatively last-second decision seems to be linked to an as-of-yet unknown school dangling a massive NIL bag to lure him away from Colorado, which was apparently pretty confident he wasn’t going anywhere.
How confident? Well, it turns out the video in the Instagram post Seaton used to announce his departure was originally whipped up by the athletic department to hype up the fact that he was coming back for his third season in black and gold.

Unbelievable. 🐍

That tweet comes from a random fan, but Colorado beat reporter Jake Schwanitz confirmed that was indeed the case after it started to make the rounds.
A Florida booster who inquired about securing Seaton’s talents says his NIL price has been set at $2.5 million, although it’s still unclear where he’s going to end up when everything is said and done.
