Jordan Seaton is expected to be a first-round pick in the NFL Draft. The former five-star prospect spent his first two seasons of college football at Colorado before he entered the transfer portal in search of more NIL money.

An expensive bidding war is set to unfold over the next few days and weeks.

Seaton will receive the equivalent of a blank check from whichever college football program ultimately receives his commitment. His compensatory package is going to be up there with some of the top skill players in the country.

Who is Jordan Seaton?

Seaton, a native of Washington D.C., played high school football at the IMG Academy in Florida. He was ranked as the No. 1 player at his position in the recruiting Class of 2024 as a top-15 prospect overall.

The five-star offensive tackle was deciding between Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Oregon, Ohio State and Maryland. And then he committed to Colorado. It was a huge win for Deion Sanders.

Seaton was exactly as advertised as a freshman. Although there were some initial growing pains, he was a dominant left tackle as he arrived to campus. He was even better in 2025.

The 6-foot-5, 330-pound sophomore was named as an All-Big 12 Second Team selection as one of the best offensive linemen in the FBS. Look at him lead the way on this touchdown run:

Although the Buffaloes have a lot of hope for the future with JuJu Lewis at quarterback, they will be without their superstar tackle moving forward. Seaton entered the transfer portal.

He is perhaps the greatest player to ever hit the portal. He is a top-five talent to ever hit the portal, at the very least.

NIL money talks.

For Jordan Seaton to enter the transfer portal on Jan. 12, just four days before the current window closes, almost certainly means his decision is rooted in finance. Either somebody offered him a bag, or he and his representation believe he can get paid more money outside of Boulder. Or both.

According to University of Florida booster Hal Lewis, Seaton’s camp started the bidding at $2.5 million.

The Gators must’ve reached out to see whether he would want to play in Gainesville and they were obviously told that he would be interested in doing so, but for a steep price. Are they willing to pay it?

Lewis made it seem like no.

The projected future first-round draft pick plays a premium position. Perhaps the most premium position. In a world of haves and have nots, Seaton’s initial asking price probably won’t be the final number. Don’t be surprised if he gets paid $3 million or more when it’s all said and done.
