The Michigan Wolverines wrapped up Wednesday with a Top 10 recruiting class as they look to bounce back from a 7-5 campaign. Sherrone Moore was able bolster that group with a few late flips before signing day.
The headliner, of course, was QB Bryce Underwood. He’s considered the top player in the nation. Four-star defensive back Jordan Young, however, was another late addition that provided star power.
Young’s recruitment came with much less of a spotlight, though he proved to be a productive player in Monroe, North Carolina. His commitment ultimately came down to the Wolverines and Clemson.
The high schooler made his pledge to Dabo Swinney in early November. He was a priority as the lone defensive back in the Tigers‘ cycle.
A month later, he viewed that as a negative. He shaded Clemson’s tiny class on Wednesday after inking his signature with Michigan.
“Their recruiting class wasn’t that good at Clemson. I was the only DB at the time. I didn’t really see a bright future there. Michigan was heating up in the recruiting class, getting guys that could help me, and I could help them as well.”

Underwood was certainly one of those guys who could help elevate the team around him. The Wolverines also signed six other four-star defenders according to 247 Sports.
As for Clemson, it signed the smallest class in the Top 35 with just 15 commitments. That was expected from Dabo Swinney moving into signing day.
“We really don’t have a lot of spots open on our roster. We like the group that we have… We look at who’s back [next year], and who we project as starters, who we’re signing, maybe you have some guys who aren’t playing as much, guys that want to move on…
“It’s fluid. We’re over the spots that we have… We feel great about our roster… We feel great about our class. Really excited about the group that’s going to come in here and fill some spots for us.”

Clemson finished 26th in 247 Sports’ recruiting rankings, with five-star defensive lineman Amare Adams headlining the class. That wasn’t good enough for Jordan Young. He’s Ann Arbor bound!
