Shohei Ohtani made history on Thursday by becoming the first MLB player to record 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in the same season. He did so in epic fashion at the plate.

Ohtani went 6-for-6 at the dish with three long balls. He added a pair of stolen bases. After the game, Jose Canseco was one of the first to congratulate him!

Why, you might ask?

Just over 35 years ago, it was Canseco who was making history. The outfielder’s 1988 campaign was one for the record books as he knocked 42 bombs to lead the majors while swiping 40 bags.

In doing so, he created the “40/40 Club.”

Others before him had come close, but narrowly missed out on reaching the clip in one of the two categories. Canseco was able to put it all together in the same year.

Fast forward nearly four decades, and the next step has been taken.

Jose Canseco congratulated Shohei Ohtani on his historic 50/50 season.

Ohtani piled up six hits, three homers, and 10 RBIs on his way to history.

Not only did he create a new “50/50 Club,” but he also accomplished something in one game that no other player has achieved across an entire career.

Have a night!

Shohei Ohtani provided MLB viewers with one of the greatest single-game performances ever seen. He did so as he wraps up one of the greatest MLB seasons on record.

It doesn’t get better than that!
