Josh Allen Takes Not-So-Thinly-Veiled Shot At Stefon Diggs Attitude Amid Bills’ 3-0 Start, Offensive Dominance

Through three NFL games, MVP candidate quarterback Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are 3-0 and have the highest-scoring offense in the league, having scored 14 offensive touchdowns so far (two ahead of the second-place Saints).

In their wins over the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, and Jacksonville Jaguars,  have put up 34 points, 31 points, and 47 points, respectively. Making the Bills’ offensive dominance even more remarkable is the fact that they went into the season without a clear-cut #1 wide receiver, having traded away Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans in the offseason.

While Diggs has been one of the most consistent pass catchers in the NFL over the last five years or so, he’s also become known for his diva-like attitude, as he’s often be seen on the sidelines yelling at teammates, particularly QB Josh Allen, when things weren’t going the Bills way.

As such, it appears that the Bills might be experiencing addition by subtraction, as Allen took a not-so-thinly-veiled shot at Diggs after Buffalo’s thorough 47-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night.

“It’s a fun and wonderful thing when you got a bunch of guys that don’t care about the stats, they don’t care about the touchdowns,” Allen told reporters after throwing four touchdown passes in the win. “And again, I think, throughout practice, we’ve just had this mindset of, ‘Hey, let’s just do things the right way, and find ways to win football games,’ and that’s what we’re doing right now.”

So far this season, Allen has completed 75% of his passes for 634 yards, seven touchdowns, and zero interceptions, while also rushing for 85 yards and two touchdowns. As for Diggs, he’s caught 20 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns in three games as a member of the Houston Texans.

After the first three games of the season, Allen has made himself the betting favorite to win the NFL’s MVP award. Ask Allen, however, and he’ll likely tell you his only goal is getting the Buffalo Bills back to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1994. Given how offensive play is down across the league — even Patrick Mahomes has admitted he isn’t playing well — 2024 may be the year that Allen and the Bills get over the hump and win the AFC.

Allen and the Bills will now play three straight difficult road games against AFC opponents, beginning with a Sunday Night Football matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, which is then followed up with games against the Houston Texans and New York Jets (on Monday Night Football).
