Josh Allen has seemingly broken the brains of NFL fans and insiders alike, as there’s been a near-constant debate about the Buffalo Bills quarterback since his team crashed out of the playoffs in an AFC divisional round loss against the Denver Broncos last weekend.
From Josh Allen’s apparent inability to “get over the hump” to criticisms of the way he’s analyzed by ESPN analysts to, now, how much input he should have on hiring the Buffalo Bills’ next head coach, there’s been non-stop discourse surrounding the reigning NFL MVP.
This latest strain of argument centers on a report from The Athletic‘s Dianna Russini that Allen has been sitting in on the organization’s head coach interviews.
NFL media personalities are bickering over how much input quarterback Josh Allen should have on who the Buffalo Bills’ next head coach is
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Allen ‘absolutely’ should have that level of involvement, while former NFL QB and current Prime Video analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick ‘strongly disagreed.’

The Bills have either interviewed or have interviews scheduled with Joe Brady, Brian Daboll, Lou Anarumo, Anthony Lynn, Mike McDaniel, Anthony Weaver, and Grant Udinski. Schefter has also reported that former Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, fresh off a remarkable three-game-return to the NFL after five years away from the game, will interview for the Bills’ head coaching job on Monday.
Buffalo finds themselves in search of a new head coach following owner Terry Pegula’s decision to fire former HC Sean McDermott after nine seasons with the team due to their loss against the Broncos. McDermott, 51 years old, was previously the defensive coodinator for the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers before being hired by Buffalo in 2017.
