Josh Allen had been playing some of the best football of his career coming into Week 5’s game with the Houston Texans. Things didn’t go as planned for Allen both in terms of performance and in health.

Allen clearly hit his head after being hit in the fourth quarter and seemed to be dazed and confused. But, he returned to the game to the surprise of many.

Here was the hit that had people concerned and had backup Mitch Trubisky temporarily entering the game for the Bills.

That looks… not great! He clearly hits the side of his head pretty hard, and he was dazed after the play, too. I think most people thought that he would enter concussion protocol and at least be out for the remainder of the game.

But, that wasn’t the case. Instead, he was back in on the next series, and many online couldn’t believe it. After all, he clearly hit his head hard.

But, Allen says he missed a few plays because of his ankle and not because of his head. Here’s more from Pro Football Talk.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen left Sunday’s loss to the Texans after his head slammed the turf, but only missed one play while being checked out in the sideline medical tent.

After the game, Allen said that he was getting his ankle checked out when he was flagged for a concussion check. Allen was cleared to return and the Bills would go on to tie the game before losing 23-20 on a last-second field goal.

“Big shot to the chest and I rolled my ankle there,” Allen said. “They flagged me for hitting my head, but felt good enough to go back in the game.”

OK, Josh. Nobody believes that.

The Bills lost 23-20, and need to rebound on Monday Night Football next week against the Jets.
