Five-star defensive back Joshua Dobson is in the midst of a busy recruitment. The 2027 prospect is one of the nation’s most highly sought after players in the high school ranks.
Over the weekend, he visited the Auburn Tigers. Dobson provided a behind the scenes look at his trip while also leaking some potential recruiting intel.
Who is Joshua Dobson?
The cornerback is a Top 5 prospect in the ’27 cycle. He is listed as the No. 3 recruit in the country, regardless of position, as well as the top player in the state of North Carolina.
Over the first three seasons of his high school career, he earned All-State honors in South Carolina with Catawba Ridge. He will transfer to Hough High across state lines for his senior year.

Dobson holds scholarship offers from all the major players in the southeast and is currently going through the process of taking visits.
To this point, he’s made unofficial trips to Georgia, Clemson, South Carolina, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and more. His most recent visit was to Auburn.
While on campus, he might’ve unintentionally revealed a recruiting hint on his future landing spot.
Will Dobson commit to Auburn?
Joshua Dobson enjoyed his time on the Plains. The Tigers have to feel good about where they stand in his recruitment.
“Amazing weekend can’t wait to get back soon,” the cornerback wrote on X after returning home. He will be back to campus at some point in the future.
That would make the Tigers a major player in his recruitment. Are they the top threat to land his pledge?
Some believe so after watching Dobson’s behind the scenes footage in the football facility. Dobson often referred to Auburn staff members as “his coaches.”
“I got a chance to meet with my DC – well, not my DC but Auburn’s DC. Great guy, Coach (DJ) Durkin.”
Slip of the tongue? Maybe. Maybe not.
The fire was further fueled be a later reference to “his” position coach DeMarcus Van Dyke.
To this point, it is all speculation. Joshua Dobson is clearly interested in the Auburn Tigers. With that being said, he remains uncommitted.
The defensive back may or may not have shown his hand on the leader in his recruitment.
