Jude Bellingham Compared To LeBron For Seemingly (And Poorly) Lying Through His Teeth About Silly Situation

21-year-old Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham saved England’s Euro 2024 hopes over the weekend as he scored a last-second game-equalizing bicycle kick with just records remaining, thus sending the game to extra time, where England would swiftly take the lead via Harry Kane.

After scoring the goal, an understandably fired-up Bellingham was obviously feeling himself, screaming “Who else?!” after he scored, while also doing what appeared to be a “big balls” celebration.

In a video posted to Twitter, Bellingham was accused of directing the celebration at the Slovakian bench, to which the England midfielder replied:

“An inside joke gesture towards some close friends who were at the game. Nothing but respect for how that Slovakia team played tonight.”

Based on how quickly Bellingham’s response was turned into a meme, however, it would appear that the soccer world isn’t buying what Jude’s trying to sell.

Cruder versions of the joke saw Bellingham’s quote accompanied by photos of the assassination of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, and planes dropping bombs in World War II.

One soccer fan compared Bellingham to LeBron James, who has famously earned a reputation for often exaggerating if not straight-up lying, often in largely banal situations.

“This man is about to go on a Lebron-level lying arc throughout his whole career,” they tweeted.

To his credit, Bellingham’s similarities to LeBron go far beyond the occasional mistruth, as the Real Madrid midfielder is achieving success at heights that have rarely been seen by a soccer player his age.

Bellingham’s celebration has resulted in an investigation by UEFA “regarding a potential violation of the basic rules of decent conduct.” Even if Bellingham were found guilty of breaking UEFA’s rules, a suspension is reportedly unlikely.

With their extra-time win over Slovakia, England will now take on Switzerland, who beat Italy, in the quarterfinals on Saturday, July 6.
