The Colorado football team landed a big fish with the commitment of four-star signal caller Julian Lewis in the 2024 recruiting class. A headliner in the Buffs’ most recent high school cycle, he plans to contend for the starting role following the departure of Shedeur Sanders.
This week, he began getting more settled in Boulder. A video posted to Instagram showed his $100,000 truck getting delivered to campus.
That clip was posted by Colorado director of player personnel Corey Phillips. “Somebody call my young boy and tell him I’m fixin’ to hold the truck for ransom,” he joked while watching the vehicle get unloaded. “I need to hold something, Ju!”

That truck is a Dodge Ram 1500 TRX, the latest of which are valued between $98,335 and $119,620 according to Car and Driver. The quarterback posted a photo of the truck to his social media outlets in December of last year.
Julian Lewis signed with Colorado in the early signing period. He looks to land immediate playing time in Boulder with Shedeur Sanders leaving the program.
Rated as the No. 6 player at his respective position by On3 Sports, he’ll have a chance to battle in the Buffs’ QB room in 2025. Sanders passed the torch with his upcoming move to the NFL.
Lewis is just 17 years old, and while talented, he’ll have plenty of competition for the starting role next year. The program also added veteran signal caller Kaidon Salter in the transfer portal this offseason.
“No promises, all competition,” Salter said upon signing with Colorado. “JuJu, he’s a younger guy of course, so they wanted somebody in the room that can mentor him and help him come into college and feel comfortable.”
Lewis echoed that sentiment after learning of Salter’s commitment. He’s not backing down from the QB battle. With that said, he hopes to land the keys to the starting role when the season kicks off. He’s already making himself comfortable in Boulder as he preps for his college debut.
