Former big leaguer Jeff Kent received an early Father’s Day gift on Sunday while rooting on his son, Kaeden, and the Texas A&M baseball team. The younger Kent provided fireworks late in the midst of an exciting Super Regional battle.

A ‘Proud Dad Moment’ was witnessed as Jeff Kent celebrated the awesome feat in the front row of Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. His son has now become an Aggie postseason hero!

Jeff watched on while the TAMU squad looked to book a ticket to the College World Series. Having beaten the Oregon Ducks in Game 1 of a Super Regional series, another win would effectively lock up a spot in Omaha for the Ags.

While they’d be without superstar Braden Montgomery, Texas A&M would receive a boost from an unlikely source in the seventh inning of a one-run contest.

Like his father, Kaeden Kent holds things down at second base. Unlike pops, though, he’d yet to crack the everyday lineup. Kent started 18 games in the regular season, and prior to Sunday’s meeting with the Ducks, he wasn’t in the opening lineup for any of his team’s NCAA Tournament matchups.

In Game 2 of that Super Regional series, his name was called – and he wouldn’t disappoint!

Hitting eighth in the order, Kent found himself in a pressure-packed situation in the top of the seventh inning. With the bases loaded and his team up 9-8, he turned on a pitch from Jaxon Jordan and deposited it swiftly into the right field stands.

The bomb capped a nine-run frame for the Aggies, who’d trailed 8-4 at the start of the at-bat.

No one in the stadium was more excited in the moment than Jeff Kent.

It was a good weekend for sports dads all around, with Scottie Scheffler landing his first tournament win as a father earlier in the day.

For the Kents, they’ll now be able to enjoy Father’s Day in Omaha where Kaeden will be competing for a national championship. Hopefully, he can provide some more dramatics at the College World Series!
