Kai Trump’s LPGA Tour Debut At The Annika Somehow Went Even Worse Than You’d Expect

Kai Trump, the granddaughter of President Donald Trump, made her LPGA Tour debut on Thursday after receiving a sponsor’s exemption to play in The Annika at Pelican Golf Club in Florida.

Trump, who is 18 years old, is an objectively good golfer, having just signed her letter of intent to play collegiately at the University of Miami. But everybody paying attention knew she was nowhere good enough to compete in a field full of professionals at the highest level.

Unsurprisingly, when she did finally take to the course to play alongside former major winner Hinako Shibuno and former European Tour winner Olivia Cowan, things went extremely poorly for Trump.

She opened the tournament with a 13-over, 83, which put her in last place in the 108-player field, a full four shots behind the next-worst player. She made nine bogeys, two double-bogeys, and no birdies or eagles on the day.

“It was pretty cool because I know I hit it far, but kind of playing with the best players in the world and being literally right there or even outdriving on some of the holes, it felt pretty good,” she said afterward. “Felt like my game is in a good spot, and especially only being a senior in high school.”

Trump also received some solid advice before the around from Tiger Woods, who is currently dating her mother.

“I mean, he is the best golfer in the entire world. I would say that. And even better person,” she said of Woods. “He told me to go out there and have fun and just go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens.”

To her credit, nobody expected much more from Trump in this setting. But it still looks pretty ridiculous that she was given a sponsor’s exemption to begin with.
