The Kansas City Chiefs have garnered plenty of attention thanks to what is arguably the most high-profile celebrity relationship on the planet thanks to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, and now, a franchise that’s already garnered plenty of attention on the romantic front will be the first NFL team to have its own Hallmark Christmas movie.

As a 30-something male who writes for a website called BroBible, I don’t have any business enjoying Hallmark Christmas movies as much as I do.

With that said, I am an absolute sucker for the wildly formulaic shlock that serves as the channel’s bread and butter whenever the holiday season rolls around; if loving a campy romcom about a woman from the big city who falls head over heels for a man with a heart as large as the town he hails from is small is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

The Hallmark Channel has produced a number of movies that revolve around football over the years, and while two of them feature former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann in a starring role, none of them boasted the involvement of the league or any of its teams—at least until now.

On Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs announced they will be at the center of an upcoming project that’s been dubbed Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, which will be partially filmed at Arrowhead Stadium.

The made-for-TV flick will star Hallmark Christmas movie staple Tyler Hynes as the franchise’s Director of Fan Engagement who will presumably woo the Chiefs superfan played by Hunter King after he’s sent to see if she and her family are worthy of winning a “Fan of the Year” contest the team is running (veteran character actor Ed Begley Jr. will also have a supporting role).

This is a pretty natural pairing when you consider Hallmark has been based in Kansas City for more than 100 years. It would be a stretch to assume Travis Kelce’s aforementioned relationship with Taylor Swift played a role in the movie coming to fruition, but it is a bit hard to ignore the timing.

As things currently stand, it doesn’t sound like any members of the Chiefs are slated to appear in the movie (which will come out later this year), but the possibility also hasn’t been explicitly ruled out.
