For the second straight offseason, Kansas City Chiefs star wide receiver Rashee Rice finds himself in the news for reasons other than football.

Last year, Rice was arrested and sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years’ probation for his role in a multicar crash in Dallas that left multiple people injured. Rice also fled the scene following the crash.

This time around, the Chiefs’ wideout is facing allegations of domestic abuse from ex-girlfriend Dacoda Nichole Jones. Jones claims that the abuse has continued over a series of years. While she did not mention Rice by name, she did claim that the person responsible was the father of her children. Rice and Jones have two sons together.

“He’s very controlling there’s been times he’s came to my new home broken my door. There’s been times when he would put his hands on me while I was pregnant, even had the audacity to lock me outside all night in ten-degree weather because he got caught cheating,” Jones wrote on Instagram. “He’s cut up all my shoes and clothes leaving me with nothing because he’s gotten caught up. And there’s multiple instances of cheating but besides that I’m just tired of him not doing right by my boys. It’s not fair he doesn’t call them. He rather be layed up with hoes.”

Kansas City Chiefs Respond To Rashee Rice Allegations

On Thursday morning, the Chiefs acknowledged that they are aware of the allegations against Rice, although they didn’t go into depth with their reponse.

“The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the National Football League,” the Chiefs said in a statement. “We have no further comment at this time.”

As of Wednesday night, Jones has yet to file a police report of domestic violence in Overland Park, Kansas, or in Dallas, the two places the abuse allegedly occurred.

However, the NFL is able to conduct its own investigation outside the scope of police allegations, and Rice could face a suspension if the league determines guilt.
