Before we go any further down this road, let me be very clear that I do not have any inside information about the relationship between Kate Martin and Claire Gransee. I am only an outside observer.
With that being said, I would be remiss not to point out my latest discovery amid ongoing rumors.
The internet seems to believe that Martin split from her girlfriend to pursue a potential romance with one of her WNBA teammates. None of the three involved parties responded to the gossip to confirm or deny.
Kate Martin dated Claire Gransee after college.
Martin, 25, played college basketball alongside Caitlin Clark at the University of Iowa. Gransee was a student at the same time.
She graduated from Iowa in May 2024 with an impressive 3.94 GPA.
Although the exact timeline of how they met and when they started dating is unclear, Martin and Gransee hard launched their relationship on Instagram in June of that same year. It was official.
The former often flew out to visit the latter during her time off from the Golden State Valkyries. The latter traveled to Golden State as often as possible. It was a long distance arrangement. They made it work!
However, WNBA fans seem to think that Kate Martin and Claire Gransee went their separate ways at some point in the last two, two and a half months. Social media ran wild with the following TikTok edit:

Everybody on the internet jumped to conclusions that may or may not be true. I truly do not know.

Here is what I do know…
Gransee posted a carousel of photos on from Croatia at the end of May. Martin commented: “So cute, now hurry back to me!”
Gransee posted another set of photos from Croatia on June 1. Martin commented: “You are the most beautiful girl in the world.”
Gransee did not post again until August 31. It was a scenic photo of a boat on the water at sunset. Comments were turned off.
Gransee followed up with a series of 10 photos on September 1. Comments are turned on but Martin did not post a mushy comment like she did back in May and June. She did not comment at all.
Why not?
