Kevin ‘KC’ Concepcion, a 21-year-old incoming NFL rookie out of Texas A&M University, made headlines at the NFL Combine over the weekend with the bravery he displayed in speaking to the media despite having a stutter. Concepcion has since released a statement on the attention, both positive and negative, that the moment received.
Despite his stutter, KC Concepcion — who spent two years at NC State before transferring to Texas A&M prior to last season — faced up to the media and answered questions while at the NFL Combine over the weekend.
Concepcion is currently projected to be either a late first round or early second round pick in the spring’s NFL Draft, which will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from April 23 to April 25.
KC Concepcion was born in Rochester, NY and met with the #Bills here at the NFL Combine.
The Bills are his dad’s favorite team and he’s been watching them since he was a kid.

Incoming NFL rookie KC Concepcion released a statement after video of him stuttering while speaking to the media at the NFL Combine went viral
“I just wanna say something if you have a speech impediment, there is nothing wrong with us. I have had this stutter since I can remember talking. This is a part of me. This is who I am. I cannot control this. I wanna be a role model for those who may be scared to speak up who may be afraid and not confident in yourself. I stand with you,” the incoming NFL rookie posted on social media.
“This weekend has taught me a lot about myself and people out here in this world. I appreciate everyone who supports me and has reached out to me after these interviews. Don’t let an outside person’s thoughts, opinions get in the way of you being great and of you achieving something in life,” he continued.
“I am blessed to be in the position that I am in and I want to help give back to those who are scared to speak up who aren’t as confident. I stand with you, I will always stand with you. We are different for a reason. God has blessed my life in a way I couldn’t even imagine in this past year. I love yall and support yall as we climb this mountain together. #stopthenegativity”
As someone who dealt with a speech impediment (stammering) for yrs, I’m proud of this young man. This is not easy, to talk to a crowd like that https://t.co/rMqSV53O0a
