Ole Miss football staffer Joe Cox has decided to ignore all of the speculation about his potential relationship with Kelly Stafford while at Georgia. The former Bulldogs quarterback broke his silence on the matter with an unrelated video on Friday morning.

He is simply going to move on!

To do so, Cox posted from inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. His caption included an emoji for love. Nothing more. Short and sweet.

Cox played quarterback at Georgia from 2005 to 2009. He served as the backup to Matthew Stafford in each of his first three seasons in Athens and took over as the starter as a senior.

Kelly Stafford, Matthew’s current wife, recently spoke about the early days of their relationship. They were not always on the same page. In fact, she actually dated his backup to make him jealous.

Long story short, it wasn’t that cute of a relationship at first. I hated him. I loved him. I dated the backup to p— him off, which worked. He was the bad boy, too. Matthew was so sweet, and Southern gentleman, and all that stuff. The backup was the complete opposite, and it upset him. It worked, thankfully.

Of course, college football fans immediately started to speculate about who the backup might’ve been. Cox is one option. Joe Tereshinski, Blake Barnes and Logan Gray are the others.

Although I am 99.99% confident that Kelly Stafford’s “other guy” is Gray, Cox was one of the most qualified candidates because he was No. 2 on the depth chart for each of the three years that Matthew was in college. And Lane Kiffin did not shut it down— even though it was Gray, not Cox.

He added fuel to the fire! Ole Miss’ head coach responded “Maybe…” to an image that linked his tight ends coach to Kelly Stafford. It was probably just a joke, and it does seem that Gray was the guy, but there is technically a 25% chance that Cox was Stafford’s backup that “dated” his wife before she became his wife. We may never know!

Regardless of whether the truth eventually comes out or not, Cox is clearly not going to address it either way. He is focused entirely on the Rebels and chose to ignore all of the online chatter by posting from inside of the stadium on Friday morning.
