Kelly Stafford, the wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, has revealed that she helped pay for Los Angeles Rams fans to attend the Wild Card Round game in Arizona on Monday night. Stafford says she helped pay for the busses that transported fans from California to Glendale, Arizona.

Due to the ongoing fires in Los Angeles, California, the NFL was forced to move the Wild Card Round game between the Rams and Vikings to State Farm Stadium, which is the Arizona Cardinal’s home turf in Glendale Arizona.

Speaking on an episode of her The Morning After podcast following the Rams’ win over Vikings, Kelly Stafford — whom has been together with Matthew since the pair were in college at the University of Georgia — detailed how she monetarily assisted in getting Rams fans from L.A. to Arizona.

“This is a fan organization that I got to know the first year we were here in LA. They tailgated a bunch in the pink lot and I’ve gotten to know them,” Stafford explained. “Somebody posted ‘Let’s get to Arizona, like, @kbstafford can you help us out?’ Something like that and I just wrote back.”

“I had a lot going on at this moment but I go, ‘Listen, if you can organize it, I will pay for the busses. So if you can get it all together, I can’t do anything else though. That’s all I can do for you, just pay.’ But I felt that not only did we want fans there but I wanted to give them an out of what was happening in LA too. And I knew it was gonna be 24 hours. So hoping that fans could just get that 24 hours of fresh air but also knowing they won’t be gone long if something were to happen.”

Stafford said that the atmosphere in Arizona during the Wild Card Round game between the Rams and Vikings was so raucous that it felt like more of a home-field advantage than they’ve had all season. In the win, Stafford completed 19 of 27 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns in the wire-to-wire win.

“Shoutout to that organization. They got it all together; they got the names, and they filled all the buses It was just a full organization haul of getting people there, getting the stadium set, making it feel like a home game, which it did. Honestly, it’s the most home game that we had. LA definitely showed up. It was pretty incredible. And I don’t wanna take a ton of credit because the people on the other side did it, I just did what I could.”

With their 27-9 beat down of Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings, the Los Angeles Rams advanced to the NFC Divisional Round, where they’ll travel cross-country to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles on Sunday, January 19 at 3 p.m. EST. The Eagles are favored over Stafford and the Rams by six points.
