Kelsey Plum is just white. However, she is happy to be whatever she needs to be for fans of the WNBA.

Her ethnicity is fluid!

Obviously, that doesn’t make any actual sense. Plum cannot be of multiple nationalities if her ancestry does not trace back to those countries. She is simply trying to say that she is for the people and an ally to everybody— no matter of their race.

All of this conversation stems from a nickname that was bestowed upon her in the past and really picked up steam recent months. The 29-year-old point guard has been dubbed the ‘Puerto Rican Princess.’

There is only one issue. She is not Puerto Rican. At all.

Plum is entirely caucasian. As far as she knows, at least. Her roots trace back to Ireland and they bring her great pride in who she is.

The reigning back-to-back WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces played an exhibition game against the Puerto Rican National Team in South Carolina on Saturday. It gave Plum the opportunity to set the record straight about her ethnicity after many years of debate amongst her fans.

Some people said that she is Puerto Rican, which sparked jokes that she was playing for the wrong team. Other people assumed that Plum is Dominican. There were all kinds of guesses in between.

They were ultimately wrong. All of them!

Plum made it abundantly clear that she is “just white.” That’s it. She is a proud Irish woman!

Although Plum is not Puerto Rican, she appreciates the nickname and sees it as a big compliment!

With that being said, people are not convinced that the Southern California-native (who is absolutely jacked) is telling the truth. They heard the way that she rolled the “R” in “Boricua” and refuse to believe her.

That’s okay!

Kelsey Plum is happy to be whatever the fans want her to be. She is rocking with everybody!
