WNBA star Kelsey Plum has opened up about the viral video of her eating popcorn from 2024. Plum was a good sport about the video, which has been a constant source of ridicule.
Appearing on the latest Post Moves podcast with Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston and WNBA legend Candace Parker, Kelsey Plum recalled the “popcorn incident” at a Final Four game between Paige Bueckers’ University of Connecitcut Huskies and Caitlin Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes back 2024 during the women’s NCAA Tournament.

Plum is currently playing in her first season with the Phantom Basketball Club in the Unrivaled basketball league, which made its debut in January 2025. Last season with the Los Angeles Sparks, she played in a career high 43 games and averaged 19.5 points, 4.3 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game.

“The only reason this happened was because the camera guy kept coming back, and I’m like, ‘What are you coming back for?’ Plum said. ”

Plum, one of the biggest stars in the WNBA today, was drafted first overall in the 2017 WNBA draft by the San Antonio Stars (who would then become the Las Vegas Aces). With the Aces, Plum — a four-time WNBA All-Star — won back-to-back WNBA championships in 2022 and 2023.
