Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III set himself up for a sizeable contract during a season that he capped off by winning Super Bowl MVP during his team’s win over the Patriots.  All signs point to the pending free agent linking back up with Seattle, but the team’s GM didn’t do himself any favors with a comment he made during the parade celebrating their victory.

The Seahawks are in a pretty good position to attempt to run it back after their victory in Super Bowl LX, as 18 of the 22 players who started that game are under contract for next season. However, there are 18 guys on last year’s roster who are eligible for free agency, including Kenneth Walker III, who earned Most Valuable Player honors after racking up 135 rushing yards in The Big Game.

The RB was in the final season of a four-year deal worth $8.4 million, and it’s a foregone conclusion he’ll be earning much, much more after he signs a new one.

Walker voiced his preference to remain in Seattle in the wake of the Super Bowl, and head coach Mike Macdonald said the feeling is mutual. We’ll have to wait and see how Seahawks GM John Schneider handles the situation, but there may be a little bit of tension between the two sides when the negotiations get underway based on what transpired during the Super Bowl parade.

Kenneth Walker implied Seahawks GM John Schneider was drunk when he falsely claimed the RB tried to angle for a new contract during the Super Bowl Parade

On Wednesday, hundreds of thousands of Seahawks fans flocked to downtown Seattle to celebrate the second Super Bowl victory in franchise history during the parade that kicked off after a rally at Lumen Field.

As is the case with most of those championship gatherings, the booze was flowing very freely, and there was plenty of evidence that suggested GM John Schneider was helping himself to some libations that had been poured into the red cup he was sipping from while addressing the Seattle faithful.

He gave Walker a shoutout during his time on the microphone, but things got slightly uncomfortable when he remarked, “He tried negotiating with me five minutes ago. It was really weird,” which led to the RB mouthing “bulls—t.”

Walker doubled down on his objection on Instagram, as he posted a video of the moment in question with a caption where he asserted he didn’t mention his contract during the parade while implying Schneider had been hitting “da liquor” a little too hard.

It doesn’t seem like he was legitimately mad at Schneider, but he still might have gotten a little bit of leverage to deploy when the negotiations actually kick off.
