Kerr Kriisa could not stop name-dropping as Kentucky men’s basketball players revealed the most famous person in their phone contacts. Most of the guys on the team named one or two celebrities.
Kriisa essentially listed off a whole roster.
This social media trend first came to exist sometime last spring on the professional level. NFL, NBA and MLB teams asked their players to disclose their most famous contacts and it trickled down to college, and eventually high school, from there. Kirby Smart even checked a five-star recruit who called him up out of the blue just for clout. I digress.
The Wildcats are the latest team to participate. Some of them said their head coach, Mark Pope. Others said their teammates, like Otega Oweh. None of them named more than two guys except Kriisa.
Here are the results:
- Otega Oweh — Odafe Oweh
- Andrew Carr — LeBron James
- Lamont Butler — Blake Griffin
- Brandon Garrison — Darren Collison
- Jaxson Robinson — Hakeem Olajuwon
- Coach Cody Fueger —
TrillyBilly Donovan, Doc Rivers - Ansley Almonor — Mark Pope
- Koby Brea — Mark Pope
- Amari Williams — Lamont Butler
- Travis Perry — Jaxson Robinson, Koby Brea, Governor Andy Beshear
- Coach Alvin Brooks — Eric Thomas, Rich Paul
- Walker Horn — Lamont Butler
- Trent Noah — Reed Sheppard
- Kerr Kriisa — Lil Baby, Brandon Wells, Kevin Pangos
Some of those guys are making hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars. They are celebrities in their own right, which is why they made the cut. Kerr Kriisa is by far the biggest “star” on the team in terms of brand reach, so it does not come as a surprise that he can name drop with the best of them.
For some of the Kentucky basketball players to name their head coach is also pretty cool. Obviously, Carr takes the cake with LeBron James. That might be the only name to top Lil Baby or Hakeem Olajuwon!
