The Kentucky Wildcats had a year to forget in college football. Despite retaining head coach Mark Stoops, who had been strongly linked to the Texas A&M job, the ‘Cats never got going in 2024 and limped to a brutal 4-8 record.

The high points of Kentucky’s season was likely playing spoiler for the Ole Miss Rebels. But on Saturday, starting offensive lineman Gerald Mincey added insult to injury. Mincey, who transferred in from Tennessee, has not played since October due to injury. And during Saturday’s rivalry game with Louisville, he was spotted at a concession stand at Commonwealth Stadium while the game was going on.

Kentucky Fans Fume After Player Spotted At Concession Stand During Louisville Loss

Louisville went on to blow out the Wildcats, 41-14, and Kentucky fans were absolutely furious at Mincey.

“The fact that players have the audacity to feel like they can get away with this mid game has everything to do with a lack of discipline and players not fearing a coach,” one fan wrote. “An absolutely garbage culture that needs to be blown up as soon as possible. Wow.”

Even in the years prior to Stoops, I’d never thought I’d see anything like this,” said another. “And to add insult to injury, this happens on the eve of National Signing Day along with the reopening of the transfer portal. Does Stoops really expect top recruits to come play at UK after this?”

Kentucky isn’t exactly a program with a rich history of winning. You have to go back to Bear Bryant in the 1940s to find a coach who has had anywhere near Stoops’ level of sustained success. But Wildcats fans have seen enough of Stoops after 12 seasons, and it’s hard to imagine that Mincey’s antics will do anything to change their minds.
