Joe Flacco is 39 years old and has been with six NFL teams over the last five seasons.
Usually, that would be the resume of a washed-up quarterback who should probably head into retirement. But as Joe Flacco has proven in recent years, the Super Bowl-winning quarterback is quite unusual.
After leading the Cleveland Browns to the playoffs last season despite being signed off the street in November, Flacco signed with the Indianapolis Colts in the offseason, where he once again finds himself in a starting job due to an injury to Colts’ starter Anthony Richardson.
In the Colts’ 37-34 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars over the weekend, Flacco completed 33 of 44 passes for 359 yards and three touchdowns, leading the likes of ESPN’s Mike Greenberg to declare that he’s better than half the starting QBs in the NFL.
One fellow geriatric millennial who’s clearly impressed by Flacco’s timelessness is future Basketball Hall of Famer Kevin Durant, who perfectly summarized Joe Cool’s career by tweeting “Put Flacco anywhere and he’s gonna hoop.”

The Baltimore Ravens drafted Flacco with the 18th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft out of the University of Delaware. Flacco spent a decade as the Ravens’ starting quarterback until 2018, winning a Super Bowl with the team in 2012.
Unfortunately for Flacco and his fans, ironic or otherwise, it appears that his run as the Colts starting QB will be brief as second-year signal-caller Anthony Richardson is set to be reinstalled when healthy.
