The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are right around the corner, and the world’s best athletes will all gather in France as we celebrate worldwide sport. One of those athletes that definitely falls into the category of some of the world’s very best is Kevin Durant.

The NBA legend is also a team USA legend, having won three Olympic golds in 2012, 2016, and 2020. He’s back for his fourth, which would be the most in Olympic basketball history.

But, with this likely being his last trip to the Olympics as an athlete, he wants to make sure take in all that an Olympic Games has to offer.

Currently, the USA Men’s Basketball Team is in Las Vegas getting ready for the Olympics.  They played their first exhibition game, a win over Canada, on Wednesday night.

Kevin Durant wants to get out and see other athletes compete, and he knows which one he wants to see the most, legendary American gymnast Simone Biles. Here’s what he had to say, according to ESPN.

With the expectation that this will be her last games, Durant is clear: “I’ve got to go see that,” he said.

“I was talking to a gymnast the other day and I didn’t know their peak is from like 15 to like 18 or 19 or something like that,” Durant said. “So, for her to be at that age and still elite, of course, yeah, I want to go check her out. I’ve always been a fan of what she was doing. Introduced me to that sport, really. I wasn’t really paying attention much until she started doing her thing. … Simone is somebody who set the tone for what a champion, an Olympian, a winner in life should be.”
Who can blame him? Simone Biles is absolutely electric. The seven-time Olympic medalist won three gold in Rio in 2016 before Tokyo Olympics marred by Biles coming down with the “twisties”. But, she’s won six World all-around golds to go along with her Olympic all-around gold in 2016, and she has 23 world golds in total. It’s likely her last games, as she’s 27, pretty old for women’s artistic gymnastics. It will be a tough ticket to go see her, that’s for sure.
That won’t bother Kevin Durant, as I’m sure he can afford it.  He’s in the midst of a 4-year $164 million contract on top of the hundreds of millions the 35-year-old has already pulled in.
