The Los Angeles Dodgers secured their eighth World Series title on Wednesday with a Game 5 win over the New York Yankees. Utilityman Kike Hernandez celebrated aptly after the fact!

The versatile star was seen soaking in the moment with teammates and reporters as he expressed his excitement while doused in beer.

Hernandez played a crucial role in the Dodgers‘ championship efforts.

While the .229 batting average and 12 home runs don’t jump of the stat sheet, his ability to play all over the field was key. Hernandez played 126 games this season, lining up at eight different positions.

He played every spot in the infield, gave Shohei Ohtani a brief break at DH, and even recorded 4.1 innings of work on the mound.

Mr. Do it all!

In the World Series, he was utilized mainly at centerfield, though he did make an appearance at second base in Game 2. His ability to be employed all over the diamond allowed manager Dave Roberts to be flexible when making lineups.

Across five games vs. the Yankees, Kike Hernandez hit .278 with a triple and an RBI. He scored the team’s first run in a decisive Game 5, which sparked a rally with the Dodgers trailing 5-0.

This was Hernandez’s second World Series title, as he also won with the Dodgers in 2020, but that didn’t make it any less special.

Hernandez hails from Puerto Rico, and like an Olympian winning his or her event, he repped the PR flag while celebrating alongside teammates.

It seems the Dodger had one eye on the Olympics this past Summer while playing in Los Angeles during the regular season.

Kike Hernandez shaded Noah Lyles after his World Series win.

The US sprinter made waves after sparking an all-out war with NBA players over the term “World Champs” while training for the 2024 Games.

“You know the thing that hurts me the most is that I have to watch the NBA Finals, and they have ‘world champion’ on their head. World champion of what? The United States?

“Don’t get me wrong. I love the U.S., at times, but that ain’t the world. That is not the world. We are the world. We have almost every country out here fighting, thriving, putting on their flag to show that they are represented.

“There ain’t no flags in the NBA.”

-Noah Lyles

That beef continued in Paris with Team USA’s basketball squad competing in the Summer Games.

The squad took a shot after winning a gold medal, announcing that they were *officially* world champs in Noah Lyles’ definition of the term. For what it’s worth, Lyles won a gold, too.

Baseball, however, wasn’t an Olympic sport in 2024. The best of the best compete in the MLB, with superstars hailing from all over the globe.

Kike Hernandez didn’t care about Lyles’ outlook. He threw unexpected shade the sprinter’s way!

Hernandez was proud to represent both the Dodgers and Puerto Rico on the field this season. This World Series title definitely meant something to him!
