Kirby Smart is going to get a call from the SEC for how he treated the college football officials after Georgia beat Texas in Austin on Saturday night. The 48-year-old went on a passionate rant about the questionable calls during his opponent’s attempted comeback during the second half.

It will surely result in a stern talking to from conference commissioner Greg Sankey.

The Bulldogs dominated the Longhorns in a top-five matchup at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium. Their defense played out of its mind. The home team converted only two of 15 attempts on third down and one of five on fourth down. Things got so bad that Steve Sarkisian actually benched Quinn Ewers during the second half in favor of Arch Manning with hopes of finding a spark.

In the end, Georgia defeated Texas by 15 points on the road despite a three-interception day from Carson Beck. It also had to overcome a baffling series of events during the third quarter that ultimately became the most questionable decision of the entire college football slate.

SEC officials overturned a crucial pass interference call after fans threw trash onto the field. Even though they were correct that the P.I. did not occur and should not have been called, penalties are not reviewable. They only had time to review and discuss the ruling because of the interruption.

Kirby Smart was furious!

Smart was not pleased with the officiating throughout the entire game. Especially down the stretch. Especially on the controversial pass interference sequence.

He slammed the referees for trying to “rob” his team of a victory during an interview with ESPN after the game. He also called out the network itself for doubting his team.

Every person on the desk of College Gameday picked the Longhorns to beat the Bulldogs. Kirby Smart did not forget what Scottie Scheffler, Pat McAfee, Desmond Howard, Lee Corso and the like thought was going to happen. Nor did he forget that his team was 4.5-point underdogs.

More importantly, Smart made sure to voice his displeasure with the zebras. It was heard loud and clear!
