Despite being located in Sin City, the Las Vegas Raiders are about to have the most wholesome quarterback room in the NFL. Widely expected to select Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza with the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, the Raiders have also signed veteran QB Kirk Cousins.

On Thursday, the Raiders signed Kirk Cousins to a deal that is effectively worth $20 million fully guaranteed in 2026. The veteran quarterback is expected to serve as mentor to Fernando Mendoza, who won the Heisman Trophy after leading Indiana to its first national championship and is the expected No. 1 overall pick in next week’s NFL Draft.

According to new Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak, in an his ideal scenarion, Mendoza would *not* be the starter come Week 1 in September.

“Ideally, you don’t want him to start from Day 1. You’d love him to be able to learn behind somebody,” Kubiak said.

The NFL world has noticed how similar Kirk Cousins and Fernando Mendoza are after the Las Vegas Raiders signed the veteran quarterback

Enter Cousins, who not only has the mental make-up to be an excellent mentor, but is also strikingly similar to Mendoza, which is an aspect that social media has pounced on with hilarious memes.

One viral post captioned side-by-side photos of the two as Looper (2012), directed by Rian Johnson — the time-travel film where a man is hired to kill his future self. Another framed them as the protagonists arriving at a fraternity house in Revenge of the Nerds (1984).

The 2026 NFL Draft kicks off Thursday, April 23 at 8 p.m. ET from Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, home of the Steelers.
