Kirk Herbstreit Weighs In On Florida State Loss To Georgia Tech After Abuse From Seminoles Fans

Florida State Seminoles fans do not like College GameDay host Kirk Herbstreit. It’s also fairly safe to say that Herbstreit isn’t the biggest fan of Florida State fans after the abuse they’ve given him in the last eight months.

So it would have been easy for Herbstreit to take the opportunity to dunk on Noles fans after their disappointing 24-21 season-opening loss to Georgia Tech.

Instead, Herbstreit kept it classy and fairly straightforward in a tweet addressing the upset.

Man, tough loss for the Noles over in Ireland to a good GT team,” he wrote. “The great news is with the new 12 team playoff, there’s still plenty of opportunities to climb back into the bracket. Regroup and keep battling!”

Those words came after multiple fans were removed from Saturday’s episode of College GameDay for their abuse of the longtime host.

Of course, fans across the country severely doubted the sinceity of Herbstreit’s tweet.

“Know (sp) matter how hard this lunatic fringe portion of the FSU fan base tries I refuse to hold this against the Noles and their real fans,” Herbstreit tweeted in February. “Been a fan of the Noles teams since the early days of Bobby Bowden in early 80’s and will continue to respect that brand and its tradition for as long as I’m covering CFB. See ya in Ireland week 0!!”

See them in Ireland is exactly what he did. And what he saw wasn’t exactly pretty.
