A number of Knicks fans have gotten a taste of the spotlight courtesy of a social media account that has captured some hilarious footage of rowdy revelers outside of Madison Square Garden after big games. However, one diehard managed to land a part in Marty Supreme after getting drunk and clowning on Trae Young during the playoffs in 2021.

Josh Safdie initially made a name for himself while working with his brother Ben on projects including Good Time and Uncut Gems. The duo garnered praise for a directing style that makes stress and anxiety basically radiate off the screen while getting some fantastic performances from both established actors and unknown and untested talent.

Julia Fox had never acted in a major film before she debuted with a splash in Uncut Gems, and while Kevin Garnett may have been known for his skills as an NBA player, he also got to flex his acting muscles after landing a sizeable role in the movie.

Josh and Ben decided to go their separate ways before the former turned his attention to Marty Supreme, and he proved he’s more than able to hold his own as the co-writer and director of one of the most critically acclaimed films to come out in 2025.

Timothée Chalamet has garnered plenty of Oscar buzz thanks to his performance as the eponymous ping-pong player at the center of the movie, but Safdie stuck to his casting roots by tapping slightly less proven talents like Tyler the Creator, Shark Tank‘s Kevin O’Leary, and a Knicks fan who was plucked off the street after going viral a few years ago.

Josh Safdie cast a Knicks fan known as “Fatrick Ewing” in Marty Supreme after seeing him clown on Trae Young in a viral video

In 2021, Trae Young fully embraced his role as a villain among Knicks fans who watched him terrorize their team in a first-round playoff series that the Hawks won in five games.

The man-on-the-street show known as Sidetalk made the trek to Madison Square Garden after the Knicks were eliminated, and Young was the target of plenty of ire from fans who let him hear it.

That included Luke Manley, who goes by “Fatrick Ewing” online and gained plenty of notoriety for the fairly wild comparison he pulled out while describing what he thought Young looks like.

During a recent conversation with Project Big Screen, Manley said he was initially “petrified” when he saw himself going viral over a comment he admitted he delivered while “hammered” after pounding some tequila at a bar near MSG.

However, it ended up working out for him in the end, as he said Safdie saw the clip and told his casting director to track him down before holding an audition that led to him landing a small role in Marty Supreme.

You love to see it.
