In the wake of the tragic passing of former NFL wide receiver Rondale Moore at the age of just 25, several players took to social media to express their condolences and grieve the loss.
However, when it came time for Moore’s funeral on Saturday, only a handful of players actually showed up, leading former Atlanta Falcons teammate Kyle Pitts to take to social media and express his disgust with his colleagues.

Kyle Pitts Says Fellow NFL Players Showed ‘Fake Emotion’ Over Rondale Moore
“Crazy how only about 6 maybe 7 of your teammates in the NFL showed up for you today,” Pitts wrote, in part, on his Instagram story. “All that talk about fake emotion and nobody want to show up to lay you to rest. Just at a loss of words.”
“Be woke on who your ‘Brothers’ really are, who really rock with you in all areas of life not just in front of cameras or the public!” he continued. “Folks just want to throw up a post and not mean it but we ball yb as Kur said ‘it might hurt a little’ but we Ball.”
Moore and Pitts were teammates for just one season in 2024, and Moore missed the entire season due to injury. But it’s clear the two formed a close enough bond that Pitts felt compelled to attend the funeral service.
“This can’t be real dawg,” Pitts wrote in an Instagram post following Moore’s passing from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in late February. “I’m really sitting here crying on even what to say or think bruh.”
However, Pitts was far from the only player to post similar sentiments on social media. Scores of players posted similar sentiments, although it appears those sentiments weren’t strong enough to attend the funeral service.
Pitts did not indicate who else attended the service. And it’s entirely possible that players had other obligations that made it difficult to attend. But Pitts’ message is certainly a poignant one, and shows the value of forming relationships that go beyond just the workplace or social media.
