Newly hired Lakers head coach JJ Redick is already facing some controversy in his brief tenure as a coach.

On Monday, the LA Lakers officially introduced Redick as the Lakers head coach, in which he insisted that LeBron was not part of the process of hiring him.

Just a day after his press conference, a woman by the name of Halleemah Nash accused Redick of using the N-word when she worked for the Duke University basketball team.

“I’ve only been called the N word to my face by a white man once in my life and it was on the campus of Duke University while I was doing work with the basketball team. And today he was named the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. What a world.”

Halleemah says she believes people can change over time, but there was a ‘lack of accountability” shown by Redick at the press conference.

“For context, this was years ago and Im a believer that we all have space to grow- especially from our college level maturity. We live in a world where these exchanges happen and the intersection of race and privilege and lack of accountability all collided w/that presser.”

Update: TMZ reached out to Redick’s camp and they deny the allegations against him.

We reached out to Redick’s camp for a response to the claim … and they completely shut it down. “No, it never happened,” a spokesperson tells TMZ Sports.
