Former Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin is reacting to the Rebels’ loss to Miami.
Last month, Kiffin said the team forced him to leave Ole Miss and prevented him from coaching during the college football playoffs after he announced he was taking the LSU head coaching job.
“I was hoping to complete a historic six season run with this year’s team by leading Ole Miss through the playoffs, capitalizing on the team’s incredible success and their commitment to finish strong.”
“My request to do so was denied by Keith Carter despite the team also asking him to allow me to keep coaching them so they could better maintain their high level of performance.”
On Thursday night, Ole Miss was eliminated from the playoffs in heartbreaking fashion after the Miami Hurricanes generated a game-winning drive with less than a minute left to go in the game.
After the game, Kiffin reacted to Ole Miss’ loss on social media.
Amazing effort and grit. @OleMissFB 😢 best season ever in the history of Ole Miss!!

Apparently, Kiffin believed the controversial final play of the game should have been called pass interference on Miami.
