Lane Kiffin is speaking to reporters for the first time after Sunday’s chaotic scene in Mississippi.
Over the weekend, Kiffin announced that he would be leaving Ole Miss to become LSU’s new head coach.
While leaving Mississippi, Kiffin was loudly booed and heckled by Ole Miss fans at the airport.

During his introductory press conference, Kiffin spoke about parting ways with Ole Miss before the playoffs.
“Leaving Ole Miss was extremely difficult, extremely difficult decision. We tried every single thing possible to continue to coach the team through the playoffs and coach players.
“In the end, that was there decision and we totally respect that”
Kiffin also described his emotions during the wild scene at the airport with Ole Miss fans.
“You call a cop that you know, so they’ll help you—because you personally know him, because you’re leaving the state. And you gotta call them ’cause you’re driving with your son, and you gotta turn around. People are like screaming at you, trying to run you off the road. I don’t know what they’re gonna do. So that affects you.
“In the airport scene—all things being said, I understand it. It’s passion. But what they’re saying about you, that you thought you did a really good job for six years for them, that affects you.”
