A’ja Wilson Celebrated Pride Month With An Absolutely Hilarious Cake For Her Teammates

Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson is the best player in the WNBA today, and she may just well be funniest player in the league as well.

Wilson went viral on Sunday when she shared a cake that she got for some of her teammates celebrating Pride Month in June.

But Wilson didn’t just get any cake. Instead, she got, perhaps, the most forward and to-the-point cake that anybody has ever bought for Pride.

“Every year I get my prideful teammates a cake for pride month,” she said in an Instagram post. “This year’s (cake was top tier and straight to the point for ’em.”

The cake itself reads “Hooray You Gay’ in big, bold letters. But the rest of it is a work of art as well. It features a number of rainbows, disco balls and, of course, two scissors.

A’ja is wild for that one.

Wilson and the Aces are the two-time defending WNBA champions and the South Carolina product has seemingly taken her game to another level in 2024.

She’s averaging a league-high 26.9 points per game to go along with 11.1 rebounds, also a league-high. The Aces, however, are just 10-6 and sit in fifth place in the WNBA standings, 4.5 games behind league-leader New York.

Wilson, meanwhile, may be the best player, but she’s also been overshadowed by a superstar rookie class.

NBA star Draymond Green says that’s a problem the WNBA needs to fix.

“The best thing since sliced bread in the WNBA is A’ja Wilson,” Green said recently. “I’m not necessarily in the mindset that it’s all Caitlin Clark, no, A’ja Wilson is great. A’ja Wilson to me is the American dream. Coming from a two-parent household, grew, got better, young Black girl, had everything against her, beat the odds to become what soon will be known as the greatest player to ever grace the WNBA. That’s quite honestly my opinion. I think A’ja Wilson is as marketable as anybody in the WNBA, but you have to figure out how to market the product.”

If Wilson continues to play at the level she’s at right now, she’ll very quickly become undeniable. And it’s clear she has the personality to match.
