To most people, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is one of the very best quarterbacks in the NFL. He has truly carried the Buffalo Bills offense at times as they’ve become a perennial playoff team and Super Bowl contender.

But, a recent survey had him as the most overrated quarterback in the league. That’s a distinction that Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James doesn’t agree with.

ESPN recently published a survey of 103 anonymous NFL players that asked them six burning questions about quarterbacks such as who the GOAT is and who are the best  quarterbacks in the league currently. Josh Allen took the crown of most overrated by one vote with 11 votes, edging out Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts.

First off, while he did have the most votes, he had just over 10% of the total votes, so it’s not like there’s a huge consensus that he is the most overrated quarterback. Still, That’s eleven votes too many, as Allen is truly an elite quarterback despite his high turnover numbers.

Josh Allen himself hit back against the ranking, saying this on Sirius XM Radio Thursday morning.

“So my reaction is I’m not mad that 11 players not on my team don’t like me, right? So that’s number one. I actually think that’s a term of endearment. When other players don’t like me that means I’m doing something the right way. I am mad at, however, I’m never, ever invited to participate in these anonymous surveys. So, that’s where I find this frustrating. I want to be a part of these surveys, too, and give my input as well.

I would love to say. ‘Yes, it does motivate me,’ and I could put it on my locker and use it as bulletin board material. but the fact is . . . I’m going into year seven, I’m coming out of a small farm town called Fireball, California, I had no offers, went the junior college route, ended up having one offer, University of Wyoming, got drafted seventh overall by the Buffalo Bills. So, again, I’m in a spot where not many people — maybe me and my family are the only people that thought that I’d ever be here — so I’m gonna keep running with that, it serves me well, and I’m just gonna keep playing football the way I know how to play it.”

As for LeBron James, the avid Madden player is not buying the overrated claims on Josh Allen.

“I guarantee he’s at the top of the scouting report before playing Buffalo offensively! So who cares,” LeBron James said. on Instagram.

LeBron is right on this one.  Last year, Allen was the third-best quarterback in ESPN’s QBR, and was the highest-graded quarterback in the NFL by Pro Football Focus. The 18 interceptions he threw last year jump off the page. But, not all interceptions are created equal, and Allen was sensational last year, just like he has been for the better part of five years now.

Josh Allen will look to get a revamped passing game off to a good start in Week 1 at home against the Arizona Cardinals.
