Life is good for LeBron James. When you are worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.2 billion, it means you get to do and buy things that the average person can only dream about.
Case in point: LeBron recently acquired a one-of-one Mercedes-Maybach S 680 worth around $300,000. Making the purchase even more unique is the fact that he designed the luxury car himself. It was all done as part of Mercedes-Maybach’s MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure program.
The car’s exterior features an exclusive light ivory non-metallic finish with chrome accents. Other personal touches include his logo on the front fender badging, the climate vents, the headrests, and the floor mats, as well as the rear seats’ lumbar pillows.
There is also a metal plate listing the birth dates of each of his three children on all of the door sills, so they will be the first thing he sees when he enters the car.
Indigo stormy-blue leather covers the interior. Underneath the letters LLTK, which stands for “Long Live the King,” is an etched plaque on the console between the front seats that displays Akron’s latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates.
LeBron James also designed a second version of the Mercedes-Maybach that the auction house will auction off later this year to benefit his LeBron James Family Foundation and I Promise educational initiatives. It is expected to be revealed soon.
“I’m just trying to change the landscape of my community for the better,” James said. “And for the Mercedes-Maybach team to want to partner with me and to help me continue to make strides on impacting my community means everything to me.”
