We can all have different opinions about LeBron James and the state of the NBA — that’s fine. But when it comes to the NBA legend’s recent interaction with a young fan, there’s only one way to feel about it, and that’s simply: “This is awesome.”

During the Los Angeles Lakers 117-108 win over the Miami Heat on Wednesday night, a young girl sitting courtside, about pre-teen age, went viral after being caught on camera melting down at the sight of LeBron James.

According to LeBron, he got wind of the video at halftime and made sure to greet the young fan and her family after the game, gifting her with a wristband and some photos.

“I made sure that I went over and chopped it up with her after the game. Gave her one of my ‘I Promise’ [the school funded by James’ foundation] wristbands. Took a picture with her, I believe that was her sister as well. I think it will be something that hopefully she will never forget,” LeBron told the media after the game.

“And I’m happy to be a part of her life now and that small little moment is such a bigger moment now. And hopefully she brags about it in school,” he added.

In their win over the notably Jimmy Butler-less Miami Heat, which improved the Lakers’ record to 21-17, LeBron had 22 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds in a team-high 38 minutes of action. The Lakers currently sit sixth in the Western Conference with just about a month to go until the NBA’s All-Star break.
