Former NBA Star Rips LeBron James For Peddling Hennessy To Children With Deceptive ‘Second Decision’ Ad

Former NBA star Lou Williams was not a fan of the recent marketing stunt that LeBron James pulled with Hennessy by building an advertisement around the notion of a “Second Decision,” a reference to his infamously televised “The Decision” in which he announced he’d be signing with the Miami Heat.

Given that LeBron James is seemingly ending his career, the tease of the “Second Decision” made it seem as though he was going to announce his retirement.

That was ultimately not the case, however, as the “Second Decision” wound up being a marketing stunt for the liquor brand Hennessy.

According to Lou Williams — who won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2015, 2018 and 2019 — he didn’t love the marketing plot given how many young people are fans of LeBron.

“I didn’t love it,” the former three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year said. “You have this age of kids waiting to hear his decision and you’re inviting them to a Hennessy party.”

Former NBA player Chandler Parsons, who was co-hosting the FanDuel TV show Run It Back alongside Williams, agreed with his analysis.

“It felt like a reach for attention when you’re the last person that needs that,” Parsons added.
