When Leicester City won the English Premier League in 2016, it was arguably the greatest season-long upset in the history of sports. Striker Jamie Vardy was a huge part of that, scoring 25 goals that season, second most in the league.

While the other stars from that team like N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez are long gone, Jamie Vardy has stayed true to his club. Still playing at age 37, he taunted Tottenham fans on Monday during the first match of the Premier League season for both teams.

Jamie Vardy did what he does best on Monday, and scored this goal against heavily-favored Spurs to level the newly-promoted Leicester with Tottenham.

Later in the match while there was a break in the action for an injury, Vardy reminded Tottenham fans that they, somehow ,have never won a Premier League title and have no first division titles since 1961 by pointing to the tattoo on his arm commemorating Leicester’s 5000-1 triumph.

The match finished 1-1, and surely Spurs won’t want those two points back at the end of the season.  That could be a big point for Leicester City, too, as Jamie Vardy and company were relegated in 2023 before being promoted following last season. They are expected by many to be in a relegation battle again.
